Curriculum

At our school, we teach the  NSW curriculum  and offer many different subjects to support each student’s learning. We know that development of skills in literacy and numeracy are the building blocks for learning and for everyday life. Our teachers use effective teaching strategies to help students achieve their goals.

English

English is the study and use of the English language in its various textual forms. These encompass spoken, written and visual texts of varying complexity through which meaning is shaped, conveyed, interpreted and reflected.

Mathematics

By studying mathematics, students learn to work mathematically – developing fluency, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning and communication skills.

Creative arts

Creative Arts provides students with opportunities to build their knowledge and contemporary understanding of Visual Arts, Photography, Music, Drama and Dance. Please refer to the following pages for information about each subject.

Technological and applied studies (TAS)

Through the study of technology courses, students engage in a diverse range of practical experiences and develop knowledge and understanding of contemporary and advancing technologies.

History

The History faculty is committed to encouraging students to adopt a lifelong passion for the study of various ancient and modern cultures which have shaped our world today.

Social sciences

The Social Sciences Faculty strives to be a faculty of excellence in teaching and learning by encouraging independent thinking and encouraging students to engage in the community as informed and active citizens.

Science

Science provides a distinctive view and way of thinking about the world. The study of science has led to an evolving body of knowledge organised as an interrelated set of models, theories, laws, systems, structures and interactions.

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE)

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

Languages Other Than English (LOTE)

Students engage in opportunities to learn about other cultures and  learn new languages.

Our learning approach

Our school uses explicit teaching. This means we clearly tell students what they are learning, why it is important and how to do it step by step. Explicit teaching helps students understand new ideas by breaking them into smaller parts.
