Additional learning support
At Randwick High School, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life. You do not need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support in a mainstream class. Support can begin at any stage of school.
Support that fits your child's needs
Some students need extra support to feel confident and do their best at school. We work closely with families to make support plans and adjustments that suits each child’s needs.
Additional learning support can include:
- teachers and support staff working together with families (and students, if needed)
- specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- providing tailored programs to help high potential and gifted students with their advanced learning needs
-
small group tutoring to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support for students
-
regular check-ins to review and update the planned supports
-
changes to the classrooms:
- accessible classrooms
- assistive technology
- instructional resources
-
extra guidance, simpler content or different focus during lessons
We know when a student needs help when:
- teachers notice changes in learning or behaviour
- reviewing assessment results and learning progress
- parents and carers raise concerns or ask for support.
Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed. If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
Need a little extra support in English or Maths? Fast Track is here to help.
Fast Track is a dynamic Literacy and Numeracy support class running every Wednesday at 8:00am for Year 7.
Designed for students who want to strengthen their skills and boost their confidence, this program provides targeted support aligned with what students are learning in their regular English and Mathematics classes.
Using the Explicit Direct Instruction model, our teachers break down concepts step-by-step, slow the pace where needed, revisit essential foundations, and explicitly teach the skills that make learning click.
Fast Track isn’t about falling behind - it’s about building confidence, mastering key skills, and getting ahead.

Success doesn’t happen by chance, it happens with support.
Our Senior Study Support sessions run every Tuesday after lunch during sport time, offering senior students dedicated time and expert guidance to stay on track and strive for their personal best.
Whether it’s refining an assessment task, catching up on classwork, preparing for exams, or strengthening organisation and study skills, these sessions provide focused, targeted support in a calm and productive environment.
The best part? Attendance is flexible. Students can drop in for the time they need and there’s no requirement to stay for the entire afternoon.
In addition, senior students can access mentoring and academic assistance during their scheduled study periods, ensuring help is always within reach.
We strongly encourage all senior students to take advantage of these valuable opportunities and invest in their success.
