Gifted and talented

High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) at Randwick High School

Gifted students are those whose potential is distinctly above average in one or more of the following areas of ability at school - intellectual, creative, social and physical. Our gifted and talented programs provides these students with learning opportunities on top of the normal curriculum.

Randwick High School provides an enriched environment for our targeted high potential and academically gifted students. In Stage 4, there are three targeted HPGE (High Potential and Gifted Education) classes.

Our Classes

In Years 7 to year 10, gifted students are placed into three academically selected classes. These classes provide opportunities for the students to interact and learn with similarly gifted students in an academically challenging and stimulating environment. Our HPGE classes complete their curriculum alongside the mainstream classes. The courses share a common curriculum but are taught in a way that challenges the selective students and allows them to fulfil their potential in all curriculum areas.
